Practice Emphasis

Over 30 years representing clients with creditor claims in all types of legal proceedings involving pursuit and protection of the client’s rights to be paid. In addition to Federal Bankruptcy and Reorganization proceedings, Rene Lastreto represents clients in proceedings before all Courts involving provisional remedies (Receiverships, Attachment and secured creditor rights) as well as commercial creditor disputes. His experience assists his clients affected by Bankruptcies including contract disputes, asset purchases and leases, commercial finance and restructuring. He advises clients on protecting themselves in case of default. His clients include financial institutions, insurance companies, leasing companies, members of the farm credit system, individuals and small businesses.

Experience

  • Extensive experience in commercial litigation with emphasis on the representation of institutional creditors in both bankruptcy and federal and state court litigation. Also represented parties in litigation, including contractual disputes, crop damage cases, construction disputes for both private and public works and business tort litigation.
  • Alternative Dispute Resolution Experience: On the Panel of Arbitrators for Attorney Fee Dispute Arbitrations. Also member of the Early Neutral Evaluation Panel for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California and a panel Bankruptcy Alternative Dispute Advocate. A construction and commercial arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association. Served as arbitrator in various bankruptcy proceedings and other disputes.
