Mr. McLaughlin has over 25 years of experience representing clients in complex litigation matters in state and federal courts, both at the trial and appellate levels. He graduated magna cum laude from California Baptist College, and earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of Law in 1984. He is dual-board certified in Civil Pretrial Practice and Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, and has successfully tried more than 55 jury trials. He is admitted to practice in all California state courts, all California federal district courts and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal.

Mr. McLaughlin is rated AV Preeminent, the highest peer review rating available from Martindale-Hubbell. For the past six years he has been voted a Northern California Super Lawyer (representing the top 5% of lawyers in Northern California). He is a former President of the San Joaquin Chapter of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, and he is a member of the Litigation Counsel of America, the Federal Bar Association, the Fresno County Bar Association and the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel. In addition, Mr. McLaughlin is an adjunct professor at San Joaquin College of Law, and is frequently asked to speak at MCLE events on a variety of topics relating to insurance law, real estate, elder abuse law and litigation.

Mr. McLaughlin joined Lang, Richert & Patch as senior litigation counsel in 2011. His depth and breadth of experience compliments the firm’s wide variety of practice areas.
